Exploring Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Spread the love

Before exploring Angkor Wat, Cambodia, there are things visitors must know in order to have a pleasant time being at the place.

Upon visiting Angkor Wat, follow the dress code and proper etiquette. It is very tempting to walk around in shorts, tank tops, and flip flops after the heat in Siem Reap is so intense. Reminder, giving respect to the sites and the monks in them are some of the things to do while in Siem Reap. As the security guards don’t allow visitors who are not dressed appropriately to enter the temples which are still used by the monks, it is advisable to wear long pants or a long skirt, closed-toes shoes and a shirt that covers the shoulders.

Pay respect the religious sites once inside the temples. Tone your voice,  screaming is not allowed, and be environmentally friendly by not littering.

The monks take care of cats as you may see there are various cats roaming around. Definitely, one of the best things to do while in Siem Reap is caressing the kitties in Angkor Wat.

There’s plenty of monkeys roaming around Angkor Wat. Don’t even try to attempt on feeding monkeys as they would eat anything, but that is not right for them.

Snacking and drinking at Angkor Wat:

Stay hydrated is one of the essential things to do while in Siem Reap. The warmth of the place is so bad, and there’s the strong humidity that water is basic. From simple snacks to cheap local eateries and fancier ones, there are also many shops around the place that sell anything.

Getting to Angkor Wat and around:

When in Cambodia, one of the coolest things to do in Siem Reap is by renting a bike to visit the Angkor Wat complex. The area is so flat that biking is somewhat easy ultimately that’s until I felt the heat and realized that there would be no way I’d make it through the day in that heat just by using a bike.

Finally, I decided to hire a tuk-tuk remorque. This is one of the best things to do in Siem Reap for visiting Angkor Wat.
